Step by step

  1. Load the GPS track of your tour

    It needs timestamps — that's how each photo finds its place. Recorded tracks have them; for planned routes, create times first with the timestamps tool.

  2. Add your JPEG photos

    The capture time in each photo is matched against the track. Set the camera's time zone, and use the fine offset if the camera clock was slightly off.

  3. Check the map

    Every matched photo appears as a pin on the track. If everything sits one bend too early, adjust the offset — the pins move live.

  4. Write GPS into the photos

    One click writes the coordinates into the JPEGs and downloads them. Your photos never leave the browser. RAW or HEIC? That's what the free GPS Studio desktop app is for.

Load your GPS track (with timestamps), then add your JPEG photos. Each photo is matched to the nearest track point by its capture time and gets GPS coordinates written into it — then downloaded. If the camera clock is off, nudge it with the fine offset. Your photos stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.

What happens to my file?

GPX files are read right in your browser. Other formats (FIT, TCX, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, NMEA) can't be read by a browser — those are sent to the Reisezoom server for conversion, processed there and deleted immediately. GPX is text and is read in the browser. Every other format has to be converted first, and only the server can do that. Photos never leave your computer — geotagging runs entirely in your browser.

Are my photos uploaded?

No — reading EXIF and writing GPS happens entirely in your browser. Only the track (non-GPX) may be converted server-side.

Which photo formats?

JPEG. For RAW, HEIC or video use the free Reisezoom desktop app.
