Split GPX

One long recording, two clean files — without a gap at the seam.

🔒 What happens to your file: Your file is sent to the Reisezoom server for processing, handled there and deleted immediately — nothing is stored. In detail: what goes where.

Want to turn this into a video?

The free desktop app animates your track as a map fly-through video, makes elevation animations, tour images and photo geotagging — all in one, for YouTube & Reels.

Step by step

  1. Load the long recording

Drop the file above — the full track shows on the map.

  2. Choose the cut point

The slider sets the cut as a share of the track. For a two-day tour, the overnight stop is typically around the middle.

  3. Pick which part to keep

First part = day one, second part = day two. Apply, download, then run it again for the other half.

  4. Reassemble any time

The parts overlap by exactly one point, so Merge GPX restores the original seamlessly.

A weekend tour in one giant file, but you want one file per day? Or your blog needs the spectacular second half on its own? This cuts a track in two at any point. The cut point belongs to both halves, so put back together they give exactly the original — no missing metre at the seam.

FAQ

What happens to my file?

Your file is sent to the Reisezoom server for processing, handled there and deleted immediately — nothing is stored. So that the web tool and the desktop app arrive at the same number, both use the same component — and that one runs on the server.

Where does the second half go?

You choose which part to keep per run: first or second. Run the tool twice (once per part) to get both files — your input file doesn't change.

Can I split into more than two parts?

Split the result again — each run halves one file, so three stages take two runs.

Do the times stay?

Yes, every point keeps its original timestamp. Each part carries the true duration of its section.

Split or trim — which one?

Trim throws away the ends and keeps one middle piece. Split keeps everything, just in two files. For cutting the car ride off the start, use Trim.
